while I was studying architecture at Cardiff University, I pledged to hand make every model and hand draw every graphic, much to my tutor’s dismay. I ended up with a first class honours though!
Elysium Cinema, Swansea, Pencil on paper, 1:50. The cinema was built in 1914 and abandoned in 1994. The crumbing facade took my interest on a site visit to Swansea High Street. The only information I had was a 4 hour long urban exploration video on YouTube, and a view of the roof on Google Maps. I spent over a month rewatching the video, piecing together the explorers’ paths and taking hundreds of screenshots of the walls, floors, ceilings, and furniture.
